At 6-10, 245 pounds, with Chris Webber-type hands and the ability to break down defenses from inside and out, Ra'Sean Dickey is one of the best power forwards in the nation in the class of '04. "The best part of his game is back-to-the-basket," says Ken Spencer, Dickey's coach at Marlboro County (SC) High. "He has the power to take it in and throw it down. But he's also got a soft shot from the outside."
As a junior last year, the Cli, SC, resident averaged 18 ppg, 15 rpg and 5 bpg and got the attention of college recruiters across the country (at press time, he had narrowed his choices to Georgia Tech and Auburn), and he expects to do even more in '03-04. "I'm more mature than last year," says Dickey, who started on the Marlboro varsity as a feshman when the Bulldogs won their last state title, "I know much more about the game."
Dickey worked hard over the summer with his AAU team, the South Carolina Ravens, to expand his repertoire. Now, he just needs to put in a little extra time in the weight room - and maybe cut out those trips to KFC. "He loves to eat," Spencer laughs. "It ain't good enough to get him a three- or four-piece dinner. He needs at least an eight-piece dinner." Scary - Dickey's still a growing boy.
