Vs: NBA Blayoffs 2011
Täytyy sanoa, että vaikka Mavs pelasi tosi hyvin viime yönä, kaikkein suurimmat kannustukset hamahakkiluolassa sai Brian Cardinal, joka laittoi koko ottelun vaihtopenkillä loikkineen ja femmoja heitelleen Patty "Patty Mills" Millsin peffalleen (noin 10 sekkaa ennen loppua!).

Words exchanged, and bad blood boils after Trail Blazers feel Mavericks delivered "cheap" shot on Patty Mills

DeShawn Stevenson (92) has words for Wesley Matthews (2) after Dallas defeated Portland 93-82. The Blazers felt guard Patty Mills was the victim of a cheap shot late in the game.
Bad blood surfaced between the Trail Blazers and Mavericks at the end of Game 5 when Dallas reserve Brian Cardinal levied what the Blazers feel was an unwarranted, blind-sided screen on Patty Mills at halfcourt in the final seconds.
Blazers guard Wesley Matthews sought out Cardinal after the game and had a few choice words for him at halfcourt, during which Mavericks reserve DeShawn Stevenson interjected. Matthews and Stevenson exchanged pointed expletives from about 10 feet apart before Stevenson was bear-hugged by a teammate and pushed toward the Dallas locker room.
“I know it's the playoffs and everything, but come on,'' Matthews said. “With four seconds left in the game? But that's cool. I'm not going to forget it, that's for sure.''
Stevenson said he was merely coming to Cardinal's aid.
“I’m not going to let anybody talk to my teammates like that,'' Stevenson said. “I said what I had to say. He walked away. And we walked away.''
Mills, a 6-foot, 175-pound reserve, was guarding Dallas guard JJ Barea in the closing seconds when he was blindsided by the 6-foot-8, 228-pound Cardinal.
Mills said he had the wind knocked out of him, and coach Nate McMillan protested the play to the officials at the time, and as he walked off the court.
Mills said the Blazers players felt it was a “cheap” play by the Mavericks.
“I didn't see it, I didn't know anyone was there, but I was wondering why Barea was pushing the ball hard up the court,'' Mills said. “But I found out why. He set it up (with Cardinal). He set it up.''
Mills laid on the court for several seconds, but was able to get up and get back on defense by the time the final buzzer sounded. After the buzzer, Andre Miller, Marcus Camby and Matthews all approached Cardinal.
“At that point in the game, I don't know … I don't know if you do that when you are up that much,'' Mills said.
Stevenson said Cardinal's screen is “part of basketball.”
“I look at it like we're up 13, 34 seconds to go, just play it out,'' Stevenson said. “And he picked up our point guard like that. I got hit like that today. It's just part of basketball.''
Stevenson and Matthews are the starting shooting guards for each team, but they rarely guard each other because Matthews was shifted to check Jason Kidd after Game 1.[/quote]
